In 1973 a Japanese company based in Hokkaido bought the team. This company is a meatpacking company called "Nippon Ham" .. Hokkaido has a very large food industry. Anyway, 1973 is when the name changed to Hams. I think it is the best name in the league. This is the kinda thing I was expecting to find in Japan .. fighting Hams!

My money is on fighty. He has a crazy look in his eyes. Brisky is always just hanging out eating carrots. I think it is obvious.
