Irish folklore has a lot more to offer then just the leprechaun. One interesting critter is the clurichaun. If you are out for a long night of drinking in Irish pubs you might just see one of these little guys on your stumble home.
A clurichaun looks a lot like a leprechaun ... but is kinda the drunken version of a leprechaun. You see, despite their unfortunate misrepresentation in American movies leprechauns are quick witted and well spoken (not to mention wealthy and long lived). Clurichan's on the other hand are generally thought to be drunk most of the time. They are also much more surly than a leprechaun.
You might see a drunk clurichaun recklessly riding a dog through the village late at night. Thank goodness they can't drive. If you see a clurichaun give him a wide space and for heavens sake be nice to him. Clurichaun's are kinda like patron saints of alcohol and if you get on their good side they will protect your wine cellar. You don't want to be on a clurichaun's bad side.
Clurichaun are said to be a mythical regional variation of the leprechaun. But you might just be lucky enough to see one if you know where to look or what to drink.
