Ikebana (生け花) is the Japanese art of flower arranging. Ikebana has many schools. The big schools of Ikebana are the Ikenobo, Ohara and Sogetsu schools.
Generally Ikebana is less symmetrical and more complex than western flower arranging. The basic structure of Ikebana is a triangle formed by twigs or leaves. There are various styles of Ikebana but normally having one, two or at most three estetic elements is considered best. Like many other Japanese arts, Ikebana has a minimalist feel.
