World Heritage Sites In Kyoto




A World Heritage Site is selected by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee as having outstanding international cultural or natural importance.

Japanese people are proud of their World Heritage sites and they tend to be very popular. There are currently 13 World Heritage sites within the Kyoto city limits:

Kamo Shrines
Saiho-ji
To-ji (Kyō-ō-Gokokuji)
Tenryu-ji
Kiyomizu-dera
Rokuon-ji
Daigo-ji
Ginkaku-ji
Ninna-ji
Ryoan-ji
Hongan-ji-temple
Kozan-ji
Nijo Castle
