Nanpa Introduction
Nanpa (軟派) means 'picking someone up' in Japanese. This could be at any public place such as a bar, restaurant or just on the street.
In Japan, guys sometimes stand on the street outside busy stations and try to nanpa good looking women as they pass by. This is tolerated in Japan but might be considered harassment in other countries. These guys may try for hours before being successful. When successful they usually invite the women for a few drinks at a bar or karaoke. Afterwards they may proceed to a love hotel.
Although nanpa is relatively rare the Japanese media talks about it a lot.
