Traditionally, African dance has had many functions in African culture:

- spiritual dances
In Africa, as in other world cultures, dance is a form of human communication, art and entertainment. African dances are performed to a variety of African music often involving
vocal music and/or drums. Traditionally, many African dances are performed in elaborate decorative costumes.
