Impressions

Harajuku is a small neighbourhood with lots of small interesting shops and some cheapish restaurants. It is right in the middle between omotesando, shibuya and shinjuku. It has a big park. Lots of fashion crazy kids gather here on sundays. Cosplayers paradise. Very young trendy.

Details

Harajuku refers to the area around Tokyo's Harajuku Station, one station north of Shibuya on the Yamanote Line. The area has two main shopping streets – Omotesando and Takeshita-dori (dori means street). Takeshita-dori is a narrow street opposite the Harajuku Station. The street is lined up with many shops selling hip hop, gothy and cosplay clothings and accessories, fast food and snacks. There’s a 100 Yen Shop here (dollar store). It’s a five-storey building with a wide range of products . I love shopping here for souvenirs – they sell Japanese dolls made of papier mache that many of my friends at home find attractive.

Advice

If you dont like crowds come in the early afternoon before school is out. If you like crowds and want to do some people watching come on sunday afternoon!
