Description
      Shabu shabu is eaten by having a portable hot pot in the center of the table, heating some soup and adding the vegetables and meat a few at a time until cooked. Basically you are cooking while you eat. In Japanese supermarkets you can find a variety of dipping sauces for shabu shabu.

The ingredients are all flexible. The core ingredient is thinly sliced beer or pork.

      15 minutes

      40 minutes

Serving Size
      3-4 persons

Ingredients
      1 kilo pound beef loin (*very thin slices) Pork can also be used.
7 cups dashi soup stock
250 grams chinese cabbage
1 leek
shimeji, shiitake, or enoki mushrooms
mochi
cubes of tofu
shabu shabu sauce

Directions
      Cut beef, chinese cabbage, leek, and mushrooms into bite-sized pieces. Place the ingredients in a large plate. Put dashi soup in a pot at the table and heat. Add some vegetables in the pot and simmer. Cook beef slices in the pot for 5-10 seconds as you eat with dipping sauce.
