Osaka Castle is situated on a huge plot of land. It is built on top of raised land that has massive rock walls. I found that these rock walls are the most interesting part of the castle because they are original walls.
The castle itself is a reproduction and not too authentice looking at all. The outside looks like the original to some degree. But the interior is a modern concrete building complete with elevators. I was a little disappointed about that.
Overall Osaka Castle is worth a visit. The surrounding grounds are nice and as I mentioned I liked the moat and huge rock walls. |

There are hundreds of more interesting places to visit in nearby kyoto. Osaka castle is a bit of a disappointment but the surrounding grounds are nice. Thats just my opinion .. many people love osaka castle I am sure. There is a nice museum inside ... I guess I was expecting a castle inside like Matsumoto castle. |
