Japan's first robot museum opened in Nagoya in October 2006 and was only open for about a month.
The museum was in a large building at a prime spot in downtown Sakae close to the TV Tower.
The museum had an attached robot department store called "robot mirai department". It is a interior design shop by the Italian-Japanese firm Hattori Lusso. There was also a restaurant called "famires".
On the ground floor had an exhibition of industrial robots manufactured by a German company.
You could control these robots by pressing a some buttons. One of them could even draw your picture after you stand in front of a sensor screen.
They gave out iPod minis with explanations (in Japanese) to the exhibits. The first part of the museum is a poster display of robots in pop culture.
There were also models of early robots including some from the Edo Period!
The exhibition lead the visitor through the different stages of robot technology ... both real robots and robots in pop culture such as Star Wars, Doraemon etc... |
