What are the best souvenirs from Japan?

I love bringing stuff back for family and friends. What is the most fun gift for the folks back home?

a few ideas ..

It depends on your budget and tastes. Here are some ideas:

1. Japanese professional baseball hats ... these are cool. Who can
beat names like "Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters".

2. Hot spring bath salts.

3. Manga (japanese comics) and other nerdy stuff such as anime.

4. Japanese Calligraphy set

5. Japanese tea sets

6. It might be obvious ... but chopsticks!!

7. Another obvious one ... sake!

8. Japanese candies and snacks are pretty interesting. Pocky is
cool. There are also hundreds of kinds of traditional snacks.

9. Toys - there are loads of cool toys in Japan.

10. Engrish tshirts. There are many strange english shirts that are
easy to find.

11. Yukata ... the cheaper more casual version of the kimono. You
should get some Geta (shoes) too.

12. Origami paper.

13. Japanese dolls are unique but scary. (ie Hakata doll)

14. Food samples made of plastic or wax that you can see in front of
restaurants. (get these in Kappabashi in Tokyo.)

15. A Hanko - name stamp ... maybe you could get your name converted
to Kanji first. (if you have an english name for example)

16. JPop!

17. Japanese fashion magazines are interesting. Pick up a copy of

18. Charms from temples and shrines (Omamori)
