Yeah, the emperor has no power. There are loads of right wing people that would like to restore him to power.

The Emperor does effectively ask as an embassador for Japan. He sometimes tries to ease tensions with Asia ... unlike the LDP goverment that seems to try to piss off China at every turn.

No, not since after the war. Currently, Japan's constitution gives all national power to the Cabinet and the Prime Minister.
