Sosuke is a little boy of about 6 years old who lives by the ocean in Japan with his parents. His mom appears to be a housewife and his father is a ship's captain. Sosuke meets saves the life of a little goldfish called Ponyo. They become friends and have adventures together. Ponyo likes Sosuke so much that she wills herself to be a human.
